Woburn Library Competition

Miami, Florida | unbuilt

As any Library must serve as the cornerstone of its community's academic realm, so must a library's architecture communicate the power of knowledge to sculpt the Earth. Lithic Thread affirms that even the most unyielding of materials can be utilized to achieve a fluid and boundless form, capable of not only fortifying its literary contents, but also fastening H. H. Richardson's historic library into the fabric of central Woburn. Prismatic, delicate, rigid, and inviting, Lithic Thread's native granite stones complement the sheer brawn of a long-admired historic land mark, while creating new layers of programmed space through its terrestrial approach to urbanism.
