This study explores the transformation of the NE 2nd Avenue corridor at Barry University into a new collegetown district, designed to add needed program and amenities, and bolster university life.

Barry is the avenue’s most prominent institution as well as an important landholder there, with a direct stake in its future development and character. The new Collegetown is proposed both as a first step in imagining a new future, and toward a proactive role in nurturing the planning, real estate development, and urban character of the neighborhood. S+A's plan proposes 600 units of housing, 95,000 SF of new retail and approximately 1,000 parking spaces.
